Update & Weekend Photos

Hi Guys,

FIrst off I'd like to say I am so sorry for not finishing Blogmas and leaving you guys hanging. As a full time student I would love to be able to keep up with blog updates and never run out of hours in the day to do what I want, but unfortunately that is not the case and school work takes up a majority of my time. But on a lighter note I have many new posts coming out in the new year that I am very excited to share with you. Now on to the rest of the post...

For my birthday my amazing parents and sisters got me a really nice camera from Olympus, which means that I can now take proper blog pictures to share my little world with you. Naturally with all the excitement in the world I took my camera everywhere I went this weekend and these are just some of the pictures I took. None of them are edited and all of them are mine except for the two that I have captioned below.

My awesome dad took this photo of me at the beach.

Leave a comment down below and tell me your favorite thing about the holidays. Mine is all the food.

Blogmas Day 9 | Review: Dove + Care Hairspray & Dry Shampoo

These Dove + Care products are definitely a must for people like me who have rather hard to manage hair. The dove dry shampoo is great for those of you with oily hair like me. With just a few sprits of this in your hair, it sucks up the oily that can cause your hair to look and feel greasy and disgusting. This product will save you so much time on those days when your running late and your hair isn't looking at its best and it just needs a little pick me up.

While I love this hairspray because it holds my hair in place and it has relatively no dropping, I wish it didn't smell so strongly. While you only need just a tiny little bit of this stuff in your hair it is still so perfumed and but I really like the formula. Making this still a favorite of mine at the moment but I am not sure if this will definitely be a repurchase for me.

Leave a comment down below telling me what your favorite hairspray is.

Blogmas Day 3 | Fall Favorites | 2014

Makeup:
I have absolutely been loving this concealer & foundation duo these last couple of months.  While they do not give super high coverage they do cover up dark circles and acne well and this hasn't broken me out either which is great because when the weather starts to change my skin tends to break out more, so anything that doesn't help my skin break out is a great plus.

After hearing Tanya Burr rave about this mascara I gave in and bought it. All I have to say is she was right to have been raving about it for so long. It is one of the best drugstore mascaras I have used, it give my lashes the extra volume that they can desperately need some days and last all day long.

Okay so everybody for a while seemed to be raving about this eyeshadow trio and I totally get why.  For only $3 this is definitely a diamond in the rough product while it might not have the most glamourous packaging, the shadows themselves are super smooth and well pigmented so you won't have to sit there packing on the shadow to get results.

Lately I have been trying to adventure more with my makeup and after buying and loving this product in a bright red shade, this naturally seemed to be the choice. I love the color of this product because while being purple it does have a bit of a pinky undertone making it more flattering against your skin. This product also last for a good couple of hours before it comes off but even when the product does rub off it leaves a beautiful purple stain. I can't wait to expand my collection of these little wonders.

Hair Care:
As a person with long thick (can be oily) hair dry shampoo is a must in my hair care regimen. It helps absorb oil on days when I don't feel like going through the daunting task of washing and blow drying my hair for over an hour. I also love the scent of this product which is unlikely for me since strong scents can give me headaches.

Okay so I am that girl with the hair that can't seem to hold a curl unless I spray an entire can of hairspray on my head (*jokes* but it is quite a lot though). So when I tried out this product for the first time and saw at the end of the day that my curls had held up nicely and even though the did fall a little, which was expected, they turned into what looked like effortless waves which is fine with me since my natural hair is rather unpredictable. While the scent of this product along with the dry shampoo is rather and perfumed, it does leaves my hair with a nice perfumed scent that lingers all day. Reminder though a little bit of this stuff can go a long way so be careful not to over do it.

Entertainment:
I actually ended up reading this book for an english project in school and loved it. The book takes place in London and based on junior constable, Peter Grant, who works with Mama and Father Thames and their children, who control the Rivers of London and give the book its name, and his partners in the police force to stop the unknown force in the city form murdering innocent Londoners. The book is a perfect combination of both the wizarding world of Harry Potter and the crime fighting action and goofiness of Castle.

Okay so confession time, while I love the Flash as a comic book character and was deeply excited for this show purely on that alone the thing that sold me was, Grant Gustin, who plays The Flash. If you watch Glee you might know him as Sebastian, Blaine's arch-nemisis who tried blinding him with rock salt. Well any who I was excited because I thought he was already a fantastic actor, and it really doesn't hurt that he can sing and is really cute too. This is positively a must watch show in my opinion because it has something for everybody in it, from romance to action fighting, its got it.

Lastly for my music favorite this was the obvious choice because I have been listening to her EP repeatedly on Spotify lately and can't seem to stop. Before you say I am sick of that song 'All About That Bass' (or maybe you still love it like me) give her EP a listen too. It is very rare for me that I come across somebody's entire EP that I would love to listen to all day long and this is definitely an exception to my norm. I love all the songs but especially Title because it has a great jazz/pop feel to it and will have you singing along in know time.

XOXO,

Fall Floral Nail Art

I know this nail look can look a bit daunting to some people but I promise this is super easy to recreate and was one of the first nail art looks I learned to master. To create this look I used an array of SinfulColors nail polishes including Come Hither (hot pink), Sailor's Delight (pale pink), Garden Party (deep green), Innocent (light green), All About You (gold sparkle),Wisp (white), and Avon's Sunshine (yellow) and Sally Hansen's Clearly Quick (topcoat) nail polishes and dotting tools.

Step 1: Base Coat

This is honestly such an important step because when I did this look I didn't apply one and when I took the nail polish off my nails were stained a yellowish green color but using a base coat should block this from happening.

Step 2: Base Color

For this step I chose to go with a deep green color but you could honestly choose any color of your liking for this step.

Step 3: Flower Detailing

To create the flowers I dripped nail polish on to a piece of aluminum to make it easier for me to reach the color with my dotting tools. I used a medium sized dotting tool to make 5 dots in a circle with the pink and white nail polishes. I then used a dotting tool of almost the same size to fill in the middle of the circle with yellow. To add a little something extra to the nail art design, I added a dot of the gold sparkle nail polish on top of the yellow dot I put in the middle of the flower. To finish off the deign I used a small dotting tool and the green nail polish to add leaves to the flowers.

Step 4: Top Coat

To seal in the entire design I applied a quick trying top coat to protect and prolong the wear of the design.

The Dream Team: Aveeno Positively Radiant

These two wonders have been a constant staple on the top of my dresser for months since I first tried them and are both repurchases showing just how much I love them. I absolutely love the formula of both of these products especially with my tricky to deal with skin. Aveeno's Positively Radiant moisturizer is perfect for my super oily skin and it doesn't make my skin break out, which is always a plus. Another plus to this lovely little bit of heaven is that it has SPF protection to protect my skin from harsh UV rays that can cause potential skin damage and I mean who doesn't want gorgeous skin when they get older.

Aveeno's Daily Moisturizing Lotion is perfect for people like me who don't like the residue that lotions can leave behind when they haven't fully absorbed into the skin. This little beauty absorbs quickly and leaves my skin healthy and glowing for the entire and then some. It is also perfect for these colder months when my skin dries up rather easily and starts to looked all cracked and nasty. Both these products are available at most local drugstores and the prices and links to the products themselves are listed below.

Sick Day Essentials

It was bound that I would end up getting sick with my immune system and all my friends being sick at the momment, but I thought I would turn this negative into a positive by writing a blog post about all the things that make me feel better when I am under the weather.

When I am sick my skin and body tend to just become really dehydrated, making water, tea, and lip balm, a total necessity for me. They allow me to be able to get through the day and make me feel healthier by flushing out all the nasty stuff from my system and just bringing me back to life. I love to cozy up in my bed and read anything when I am under the weather. Right now I have absolutely been loving Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch, just think of it as if Harry Potter met Castle and formed one great fantasy mystery novel taking place all over England. When I get sick of reading actual books I love magazines, Seventeen being one my all time favorites for many years now and I was so excited when I saw that this month's had all of my favorite YouTubers in it.

One of my most guilty pleasures when I am sick is binge watching some of my favorite shows on Netflix, right now I have been absolutely loving New Girl. I just can't seem to get enough of the quirkiness that Zooey Deschanel and the rest of the cast bring to the show, making this the perfect sick day pick me up. Last but not least you can't forget about sanitizing because when you are sick this is one of the most important steps in keeping you and your friends from becoming more sick. I absolutely love Bath & Body Works 'Stress Relieving' eucalyptus and spearmint hand sanitizer because it smells like mens cologne in the best of ways. My friends and I even joke about its name calling it the 'manitizer'.

Leave me a comment below telling me your favorite things to have around when you are sick.

Real Technique's Base Brushes

L to R : pointed foundation brush, powered brush, contour brush, expert face brush, detailer brush, buffing brush

Real Technique brushes have to be one of my favorite brands for base application brushes. They blend so smoothly and don't leave me with any harsh lines or glops of product on my face. I actually prefer these base brushes over my MAC brushes and they retail cheaper then them to at ULTA for $8.99 and $17.99.

I love using this brush when I have more time to do my makeup. It glides and blends foundation so smoothly onto my skin and is perfect for those days I want a more flawless finish.

This brush dusts my face with the perfect layer of setting powder and leaves me shine free, which is super important for me because I have super oily skin and I know you other oily skin girls can agree on how important a good powder brush can be.

The contour brush has to be one of my favorite brushes out of my collection of Real Technique brushes because I love the way it blends my contour and blush and leaves no harsh lines or blotchy spots like other contour brushes have a tendency to do.

This was one of my first foundation brushes and the brush that started my Real Techniques obsession. Besides the contour brush this is definitely one of my favorite brushes, it is great for blending in foundation quickly and covering my skin with an even layer of foundation.

Don't underrate this brush just because of its size. It is brilliant for covering spots and blemishes with concealer and even applying more pigmented lipsticks that tend to be more difficult to apply without getting it all over your face.

This brush is just a great multi-purpose brush, it blends my foundation and concealer perfectly and works great for other powder products like blush, contour, and setting powder.

If you love Real Technique brushes leave a comment down below telling me which ones I should pick up next?

FALLing In Love with Revlon's Bold Sangria

Fall is honestly one of my favorite seasons because it is the start of rainy weather, warm sweaters, and berry toned lipsticks, and what better way to start off the season than with a new nail polish. I have absolutely been loving Revlon's Bold Sangria as it is the quintessential perfect fall nail color. At first sight I wasn't sure if I was going to like this color because in the bottle it has a rather odd undertone to it, but when I applied it my hesitations were instantly gone and I fell in love with this purple almost black/brown color. The color is the perfect deep purple that I think would suit any skin tone and the formulation of this nail polish is brilliant it dries quickly and leaves a nice sheen to the nail.

Let me know in the comments what your favorite fall nail polish is.

End of Summer Favorites | 2014

Hi Guys,

So time has flown by and Fall is here and means it is time for End of Summer Favorites and I have been loving a ton of new stuff these last couple of months.

Makeup:

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation

When looking for a new foundation after I ran out of my Covergirl 3-in-1 and reading a couple of great blog reviews I decided to give this one a run for its money. It is a great light weight foundation that still gives a good amount of coverage and this foundation blends so well to. I highly recommended this to anybody who is in the market for an affordable light weight foundation.

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm

Okay so lately I have had a hankering to wear a statement red lip more often than usual and the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in 'Striking' is the perfect orangy-red for transition from summer to fall. The formula of this lipstick is so brilliant it doesn't cling on to my sometimes dry lips and stays all day, once I apply this it is not going anywhere.

Real Techniques Buffing Brush

So I had this whole thought that if I bought a new foundation why not get some new brushes too. The Real Techniques Buffing Brush does an amazing job at blending my foundation into my skin so it actually looks like skin which is something I have always had problems with.

Real Techniques Detailer Brush

This nifty little pointer brush is great for applying concealer to spots, giving you an easy application of a bold lip color, and even running eyeshadow under your eyes. Overall this is a great over all brush for any facial detailing (can I say that well I guess I just did).

Skin Care:

Neutrogena Cleanser/Mask

After going to my doctor for a regular check up and having her recommend that I start using a benzoyl peroxide wash instead of salicylic acid because it might give me better results I picked up the Neutrogena Cleanser/Mask. I am seriously in love with this stuff because it has gives me great result and I have fewer spots, cleaner pores, and more faded hyper pigmentation. This is seriously a great product for anybody struggling with persistent acne.

Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizer SPF 30

With the new face wash I also picked up a new moisturizer. After seeing all the Aveeno commercials I decided to finally try their moisturizer and I absolutely adore this it. With the face wash this has really helped treat my hyper pigmentation that seems to never go away, plus it has a SPF of 30 to so it works great as a facial sunscreen, that won't break you out too.

Hair:

Pantene Sheer Volume Shampoo and Conditioner

I am not usually one to talk about hair product because I have that theory of as long as it gets the job done its a good product. But I have actually noticed in my hair when I have used this shampoo and conditioner duo, it gives weightless volume that I found myself lacking when using other hair care product. This is another product I highly recommended to anybody who is lacking a bit of volume in their hair.

Music/ TV:

Vance Joy

If you listen to alternative music you will most likely know the song 'Riptide' by Vance Joy. This is such a catchy song, once you listen to it, it is stuck in your head and you can't help but sing along. 'Riptide' is just the perfect song to chill to and play when you are getting ready or just blast while your in the car.

Young & Hungry

I have absolutely been loving Young & Hungry lately, as it is the perfect funny comedy were you can watch it without have to pay attention to every detail. I just hope ABC Family won't get canceled before the two main characters get together, just like Jane By Design did.

What have you been loving this month?

XOXO,
    Jackie

June Favorites⎜2014

Hi Guys,

June has gone and I don't know where all the time went but the end of June can only mean one thing, July is here. Well yes but it's time for my monthly favorites posts.

Beauty:

Benefit's POREfessional

As I have mentioned on here quite a few times before I have really big ugly pores and I am always looking for something to conceal them so that when I apply my makeup it doesn't all sink and settle into them. The POREfessional has definitely helped a ton with that problem, I apply it to my skin before I apply my makeup by lightly blending and tapping it onto my skin with my fingers. This product helps my makeup stay all day and if you would like to check my out my full review click HERE.

Jordana FabuLiner

This product is amazing for the easy and almost effortless application of eyeliner. The pricing for this product is another plus, coming in at only $2.29 plus tax. If you would like to read my full review click HERE.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch

When these lip balms first came out I tried one and actually lost it before I could for a proper opinion about them. So after seeing lots of my friends use and rave about these I thought I would give it another try and pick one up . I chose the shade Pink Punch which sadly doesn't suit my skin tone properly, but any how I actually use this as a lip base to add an enhance the pink color in my lipsticks and make them last a lot longer. Plus while I wear this under my lipstick it actually really moisturizes my lips which is an excellent plus. I cannot wait to pick up another one in a different shade that may hopefully suit my skin tone better. I highly recommend this product for anyone who is looking for a lip product they can slip in their hand bag and easily apply without a mirror.

Nails:

SinFul Shine with Gel Tech Nail Polishes

During the summer I don't like to paint my nails all the time, actually scratch that anytime of the year I don't like having to paint my nails all the time. These nail polishes are one of my absolute favorite products at the moment because they already have a shiny finish so there is no need for a top coat, they are super pigmented, last for quite a while before chipping, and  only cost $2 at Walgreens.

Skincare:

Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub

This is the perfect product to get your skin ready for shorts season and to make your skin. If you want to read my full review click HERE.

Fitness:

POPSUGAR Fitness

I have been doing POPSUGAR's workouts for months now and I think these are fantastic because they bring some of Hollywood's most sot after trainers right to your fingertips. On their YouTube channel there is a workout for everybody, ranging from Victoria Secret workouts to Yoga. I absolutely suggest you check out their YouTube channel if you are looking for a way to change up your workout routine.

Book:

Brunette Ambition by Lea Michele

Lea Michele has been one of my biggest role models for as long as I can remember and when I found out she was coming out with a book last year I could not wait to get my hands on a copy. The book gives an inside look into her experiences on Broadway and Glee, which show off her amazing work ethic and dedication to her craft. The book also has people such as her personal trainer showing you her workout routine, her makeup artist recreating some of her best red carpet makeup looks, and her hairstylist showing you how to recreate some of her best hairstyles. It also includes some of Lea's recipes, DIY spa treatments, and a love letter to Jonathan Groff (which if you are obsessed with this pair duo of friends like am will make you smile because it is so cute). I recommend this because it is a great easy read for anyone.

Music:

Sam Smith - In The Lonely Hour

OMG CAN ENGLAND REALLY HAVE ANYMORE MUSICAL TALENTS POPPING UP? Well I guess they can because Sam Smith has caught my attention. His voice is what I can only explain as liquid gold, yes folks his voice is Velveta (my sad attempt at trying to be funny haha). His album is one of the only things I have been listening to lately and I cannot seem to get enough of it either. His lyrics are so relatable and heartfelt that anyone who listens to them will instantly fall in love with him and his album, think of his album as a male Adele with some EDM tracks thrown behind his songs. This album will definitely be on repeat all summer long. I will be writing a full review on his album so make sure to watch out for that very soon.

Rimmel and Revlon Makeup Haul

Hi Guys,

It seems now days that I am constantly in the Target beauty aisles and sending the majority of my money there. On this last trip I picked up quite a few Rimmel products and the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation which I have been curious about for months.

Rimmel Natural Bronzer in 'Sun Dance'

I actually picked this up because I was looking for a darker bronzer because I have gotten a little to tan for my NARS Laguna bronzer to work on me and wanted a rather cheap one.

Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 'Hazel 002'

I finally have a real eyebrow product that isn't my Naked2 palette! I am honestly the most excited to try this products and really hope this is the right shade because my choices were this and black brown and that just seemed to bit to daunting a shade for me to purchase.

Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner in 'Sable'

During the summer I feel like black eyeliner can be a little to much for the weather and wanted to get a good brown eyeliner and had heard tons of great reviews about these Rimmel ones.

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in 'Eastend Snob'

Lip liners are great for summer because they last a lot longer than lipsticks and lip glosses and I really wanted to get one in a shade that is very my lips but better. By the looks of this one I think I have just the shade I was looking for.

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation in '180 Medium Beige'

Lastly I picked up the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation because I had heard a ton people raving about this and I needed a new foundation since I have almost run out of my Covergirl Stay Fabulous one.

Fitness Diary: Week 1

Hi Guys,

One of my goals for this summer was to workout at least three times a week. To keep me motivated I thought I would write a fitness diary just to show the progress I have made from start to finish. Along the way I thought I would share with you guys what workouts I have been loving. I will be writing an entry into this post everyday after my workout then uploading at the end of the week to keep you all up to date. And please if you are looking to workout this summer and get in shape, please leave me a comment so we can get motivated and become the best version of us we can be together. As a little bit of a heads up I do most of my workouts at home seeing as I don't want to spend the money on a gym membership and don't tend to go on runs/hikes very often. Also as I decided wednesday night to write this series I don't have pictures for the first two days of my workouts.

Monday / June 23, 2014:

Today was my first workout in over two months and it definitely showed me how out of shape I have become. I chose to do one of the NTC app workouts because they are so simple to use, they show you timers, have a guide leading you along the way telling you what to do, and let you adjust the workout to your exact specifications too. I actually didn't listen to any music because I just for got to put some on but it was actually nice being able to use the quiet to get into a zone where I could just push through the exercises and check in with my body.

Wednesday / June 25, 2014:

For todays workout I chose a yoga routine that I found via FitSugar's YouTube account. I had never tried yoga before today and didn't honestly think it would be this hard, it was not overall very physically enduring whilst it was just challenging to keep my balance and to keep my breathing at the right tempo. I thoroughly enjoyed doing this workout and will absolutely becoming back to it again. I again didn't listen to music but this time it was to really take time to focus on my core and my zen level because isn't that what yoga is all about find your zen and spiritual balance.

Saturday / June 28, 2014:

I actually was so in love with yoga workout I did on wednesday. My biggest focus today was to just work on my breathing and technique. This is a must for getting through this routine and I found last time I was having a bit of trouble with that. I promise next week I will a different workout.

This is me looking sweaty and gross after todays workout!

Summer Wish List 2014

Hi Guys,

I had so much fun back in February creating a wish list of things I wanted to purchase, that I had to create another one for summer. As a heads up I am sorry the numbering is really funky I just wanted to keep everything within its categories.

After hearing all the beauty bloggers raving about these I am
excited to get my hands on one.

Great full-proof summer foundation.

Can you tell I am curious about the Tarte Amazonian Clay range?

This is the perfect travel palette.

I think this the perfect thing to keep in your bag all summer long.

These are my goto clothing pieces for summer because you can just slip it on.

I know not everybody is a fan but I really like them!

This is perfect for loose more constructed waves.

This is amazing for no heat hairstyling.

Perfect way to get to where you want to go while still enjoying the summer weather.

Review: Soap & Glory Flake Away Scrub

Hi Guys,

Can I just say I am absolutely in love with this weather right now! It is totally shorts season and that means time to break out all the leg care products. While I have used a Soap & Glory face mask before, I was really curious about some of there other products and couldn't wait to get my hands on them ASAP. The Soap & Glory Flake Away scrub has been one of my favorite products I have used to make my skin super smooth and supple this summer. This stuff smells so good because it contains shea butter, sugar and peach seed powder which not only smell good but are super good for your skin too. I just love opening the jar up in the shower because it smells so good. If you are looking for a relatively affordable scrub this is the one to get. Ahh I just can't stop talking about how absolutely amazing this product is and cannot wait to get my hands on this product from Soap & Glory.

Review: Jordana FabuLiner

Hi Guys,

Recently I picked up the Jordana FabuLiner while in Walgreens. This eyeliner is the perfect eyeliner for summer because once it is applied it is not going anywhere. I have worn this eyeliner with eyeshadow and a primer and then I have just worn this on my bare eyelids, which may I remind you can get rather oily. The pointed felt tip makes it so easy to apply and allows you to get the perfect line every time, wether it be bold or thin. Plus the price for this handy dandy little product is just $2.29, which is just absolutely ridiculous for the quality of this product. The only thing about this eyeliner that I am not to keen about is the felt tip applicator being as stiff as it is, but it would not keep from repurchasing this product because beside that one little knick it is a great product. This is definitely going to be one of my summer makeup must haves.

Me wearing the eyeliner with not eyeshadow on.
