Mason Jar Nail Polish Storage

Hi Guys,

When I went into Micheal's recently, the light reflecting off the mason jars caught my attention. So naturally I just had to walk over to the shiny glass jars that captured the light so perfectly and pick the biggest one they had there up. Now this was more of an impulse buy than anything, I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do with it but just knew I had to have it.
After walking out if the store with my new purchase and my sister laughing and asking what I was going to do with a giant glass jar, I still had know answer to that question, but I was determined to find an answer. It took ne a little bit of thinking but I finally came up with the idea that I would put my giant nail polish collection in to the jar for prettier storage than a cardboard box under my dresser. I am so pleased with the way this looks.
I would love to hear other ideas of how to use a mason jar in the comments?

Review: Olay Fresh Effects {Bright On Schedule!} Eye Awakening Cream

Hi Guys,

I thought since I haven't done a review in a little bit I would do one. This eye cream is fantastic I use this both day and night. This is a super light but still moisturizing eye cream. This definitely gets the job done, it leaves my eyes bright and my bags reduced in size. This eye cream has a tri-metal eye roller that cools the skin under your eye allowing your bags to reduce in size. And contains honeysuckle, cucumber, and white tea help brighten dark under eye circles. This is a great product for anybody with problematic under eye circles or anyone who just wants a good eye cream.

Feeling Beautiful Without Makeup

Hi Guys,

I know that the majority of these blog post are about beauty products or fashion but I personally don't wear makeup everyday and think it's important to embrace the skin you are in. I know many girls and guys out there have a hard time doing just that because of break outs, pores, scars, and all the problems that can make skin anything less than perfect. I personally have terrible skin which I have talked about it quite a lot on this blog. I have giant pores, hyper pigmentation, and there is not a day that goes by that I don't have a new blemish on my face (bad skin is hereditary in my family). But I was lucky enough to be raised in a household that embraced the fact that skin isn't always perfect but at the same time you don't always need to wear makeup to feel or be beautiful. This was a really empowering thing growing up and has really shaped the way I perceive beauty in my eyes. And for all of you who have never been told or just don't feel like you are beautiful without makeup on I promise you, you are just as beautiful without makeup on as you are with.

I am not in any way claiming to have self confidence all the time at all, because there are those days were I wake up and my skin is especially bad and I just think I really don't want to go out in public without makeup. But then I put on makeup and my skin looks worse then it did without makeup and my skin is stinging because of the makeup and I have to take it off because it hurts and I am forced to face the day bare faced and natural. Honestly, though these are the days that give me the most self confidence because I know that when my skin looks better I will feel less of a need to wear makeup plus it's great for your skin to get a rest day from all the makeup and crap your skin goes through on a daily bases. Down below I have listed some tips that help me when I don't wear makeup on a bad skin day or just in general.

Tip 1: Taking Care of Your Skin

Taking care of your skin can be a daunting task for many people because they don't know were to start off. There are many great and affordable skin care options out there right at your finger tips.

For People With Acne:

For those of you with acne like me there are two different types of acne medications out there, they are salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. For me personally salicylic acid works best for me but I know that is not the case for everybody. I am not the best person to tell you all about these two different medications but there are many great website out there that explain it. I have found one that made it very easy to follow and understand the differences between the two, if you would like to check it out click on the link below.

Salicylic Acid vs. Benzoyl Peroxide

For People with Problematic Pores:

There are so many great masks and strips out there to help with problematic pores. I have absolutely loved the Soap & Glory face masks for pores and the Biore pore strips because they both get the job done the take out all the gunk that is clogging my pores but also keeps break outs at bay.

General Skin Care Tips:

Moisturizing is key for good skin whether you have dry skin or not because even with oily skin if it is not moisturized regularly it will produce more oil because your body thinks your skin is dehydrated and is in need of more moisture causing your skin to be oilier. Another vital tip is take off your makeup before bed because sleeping with makeup on will a.) make your skin feel gross when you wake up in the morning and b.) will clog your pores and make your skin break out.

Tip 2: Drink Tons of Water

Sugary drinks like sodas and sports drinks can make your skin break out, while water helps keep your skin hydrated and helps flush out all the toxins in your skin. If you want to add flavor to your drink options green tea is a secret wonder, it took be nearly forever to be able to drink green tea because I hate the smell so much but drinking it while it is almost piping hot allows me to drink it without the smell of it hitting me in the face so strongly. Green tea is great for clearing skin because it contains antioxidants that help repair and protect yourself.

Tip 3: Clean Your Make Up Brushes

Cleaning your makeup brushes is an important step towards getting better skin. Makeup brushes can attract loads of bad bacteria on them, leaving your skin to break out if they are not cleaned regularly. This is one thing I have always been terrible at just because I am so lazy. I try to clean my brushes every two weeks to keep up with them. For brush cleaner I use the MAC Brush Cleanser which disinfects, cleanse, and conditions my brushes so they stay in good shape and last longer and are better for me to use.

Tip 4: Have Confidence

I find the most helpful tip to feeling beautiful with out any makeup is having confidence. I find the easiest way of to feel confident is to look in the mirror and point out the good things about your body. Even though this seems strange look into and tell yourself you are beautiful because this will help get the thought into your head that you are beautiful even if you don't feel it.

Tip 5: Get Your Beauty Sleep

Last but not least beauty sleep is an important step in skin confidence because beauty sleep is very reparative. With more sleep there will be less of a chance to have dark circles under your eyes and sleep also helps clear up acne and hyper pigmentation.

   Jackie

February Favorites

Hi guys,

Since February is such a short month I had a hard time finding time to sit down and write an actual blog post. So I have made a pact with myself that this month I will blog at least twice a week even if its short and completely pointless. Well on that note now on to my favorite product of this month....

Beauty:

I was wandering around Target and I was looking for a new foundation. I had heard quite a lot about this foundation from many of my friends (and all the beauty gurus putting their two sense in didn't hurt either) who can't stop talking about this foundation. I absolutely adore this foundation it is so pigmented but isn't to thick and leaves my skin looking dewy but in a good way. This covers my hyper pigmentation pretty well and blends beautifully into my skin. When wearing this foundation I get so many compliments from people telling me that my skin looks so good. If you would like to see my everyday makeup routine with this foundation leave a comment down below.

Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional

I have always struggled with gigantic pores as long as I can remember. This makes my makeup look so unflattering on my face when I don't were a primer because the makeup sinks inside my pores and just doesn't look pretty. When trying out this product the first time I was not very impressed because after applying my foundation I still had gigantic pores and it looked no different than if I had not used a primer. But the second times a charm, after watching a helpful YouTube video and finding out I should pat the primer on instead of rub it on face it left my face with an almost flawless looking face. I highly recommend any body with problematic pores to invest in this product.

NYX Cosmetics Butter Gloss

After many of my favorite beauty gurus raving about this lip gloss I finally caved in and bought it. I love this lip gloss it is such a pretty petal pink nude. This lip gloss is very creamy and pigmented but not  heavy and uncomfortable. This lip gloss is the perfect everyday lip gloss. Plus this lip gloss is so cheap retailing for just $4.99.

Skin Care:

Olay Fresh Effects {Bright on Schedule} Eye Awakening Cream

While wondering around the skincare section in Target I stumbled upon this little wonder. This eye cream contains white tea, cucumber, honeysuckle, and a metal tri-ball roller at the tip. This tri-ball metal roller leaves the eyes depuffed because of its cool feeling and the moisturizer rubbed in. This is a great product for mornings when you need to get out the door fast.

I have been a fan of EOS products for many years now and this is just another one of their products I can't seem to stop raving about. First, of the price is great this retails for only $1.99 which is so cheap. Second, this hand cream contains shea butter, oats, aloe, and antioxidants making it super moisturizing. Did I also mention this cream is also paraben-free too? Third, the actual reason I use this hand cream over any other, it isn't greasy and absorbs into my hands so fast.

Tea:

Numi Tea

I had heard a little bit about Numi Tea before and was always curious to try it but never had the chance to. When my mom came home the other day with a giant envelope filled with Numi Tea from her bosses I was ecstatic. My favorite out of the bunch I have tried so far is the Jasmine Green tea. I love Jasmine tea to begin with because it is very light just like Chamomile but this particular tea is amazing because while being light it contains a very refreshing flavor to it that is delightful. If you enjoy Jasmine tea this is the one you need to try out.

Stash Tea

While walking around a Business Center Costco this month I found a six pack of Stash Tea. I was over the moon happy when I found this because a. the boxes had 30 bags of tea in it instead of the usual 20 and b. it was so cheap for 6 boxes of tea I just couldn't resist. The six flavors I got were Green, Chamomile, Chai, Peppermint, Earl Grey, and Black Tea the standard tea flavors. But who say classics aren't fantastic? I have loved every one of the teas in the rotation except for the peppermint which I have never really been a fan of and later gave the box to a friend. Stash teas are a great affordable tea and have many flavor options out there for anyones liking.

Band / Music Group:

Okay so I have to admit that I am a complete nerd when it comes to all things vocal. I have been studying vocal music for the last 7 years now and it is something I absolutely could not imagine me not doing. The most amazing thing about singing is knowing that everything you sing is coming from your mouth, your body is creating that sweet melody you are hearing. Pentatonix is an A Capella group that started on the Sing Off in 2011, and they recently went on tour and I was lucky enough to see them live. As secretary of my school's A Capella Club and qualified choir dweeb I was so excited to see them. It honestly didn't process into my head that I had seen them until a couple of days after the concert. They are all absolutely amazing vocalist and great performers and I am just so lucky to have seen them. If you would like to check them out click on the link above.
