Hi Guys,
I know that the majority of these blog post are about beauty products or fashion but I personally don't wear makeup everyday and think it's important to embrace the skin you are in. I know many girls and guys out there have a hard time doing just that because of break outs, pores, scars, and all the problems that can make skin anything less than perfect. I personally have terrible skin which I have talked about it quite a lot on this blog. I have giant pores, hyper pigmentation, and there is not a day that goes by that I don't have a new blemish on my face (bad skin is hereditary in my family). But I was lucky enough to be raised in a household that embraced the fact that skin isn't always perfect but at the same time you don't always need to wear makeup to feel or be beautiful. This was a really empowering thing growing up and has really shaped the way I perceive beauty in my eyes. And for all of you who have never been told or just don't feel like you are beautiful without makeup on I promise you, you are just as beautiful without makeup on as you are with.
I am not in any way claiming to have self confidence all the time at all, because there are those days were I wake up and my skin is especially bad and I just think I really don't want to go out in public without makeup. But then I put on makeup and my skin looks worse then it did without makeup and my skin is stinging because of the makeup and I have to take it off because it hurts and I am forced to face the day bare faced and natural. Honestly, though these are the days that give me the most self confidence because I know that when my skin looks better I will feel less of a need to wear makeup plus it's great for your skin to get a rest day from all the makeup and crap your skin goes through on a daily bases. Down below I have listed some tips that help me when I don't wear makeup on a bad skin day or just in general.
Tip 1: Taking Care of Your Skin
Taking care of your skin can be a daunting task for many people because they don't know were to start off. There are many great and affordable skin care options out there right at your finger tips.
For People With Acne:
For those of you with acne like me there are two different types of acne medications out there, they are salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. For me personally salicylic acid works best for me but I know that is not the case for everybody. I am not the best person to tell you all about these two different medications but there are many great website out there that explain it. I have found one that made it very easy to follow and understand the differences between the two, if you would like to check it out click on the link below.
Salicylic Acid vs. Benzoyl Peroxide
For People with Problematic Pores:
There are so many great masks and strips out there to help with problematic pores. I have absolutely loved the Soap & Glory face masks for pores and the Biore pore strips because they both get the job done the take out all the gunk that is clogging my pores but also keeps break outs at bay.
General Skin Care Tips:
Moisturizing is key for good skin whether you have dry skin or not because even with oily skin if it is not moisturized regularly it will produce more oil because your body thinks your skin is dehydrated and is in need of more moisture causing your skin to be oilier. Another vital tip is take off your makeup before bed because sleeping with makeup on will a.) make your skin feel gross when you wake up in the morning and b.) will clog your pores and make your skin break out.
Tip 2: Drink Tons of Water
Sugary drinks like sodas and sports drinks can make your skin break out, while water helps keep your skin hydrated and helps flush out all the toxins in your skin. If you want to add flavor to your drink options green tea is a secret wonder, it took be nearly forever to be able to drink green tea because I hate the smell so much but drinking it while it is almost piping hot allows me to drink it without the smell of it hitting me in the face so strongly. Green tea is great for clearing skin because it contains antioxidants that help repair and protect yourself.
Tip 3: Clean Your Make Up Brushes
Cleaning your makeup brushes is an important step towards getting better skin. Makeup brushes can attract loads of bad bacteria on them, leaving your skin to break out if they are not cleaned regularly. This is one thing I have always been terrible at just because I am so lazy. I try to clean my brushes every two weeks to keep up with them. For brush cleaner I use the MAC Brush Cleanser which disinfects, cleanse, and conditions my brushes so they stay in good shape and last longer and are better for me to use.
Tip 4: Have Confidence
I find the most helpful tip to feeling beautiful with out any makeup is having confidence. I find the easiest way of to feel confident is to look in the mirror and point out the good things about your body. Even though this seems strange look into and tell yourself you are beautiful because this will help get the thought into your head that you are beautiful even if you don't feel it.
Tip 5: Get Your Beauty Sleep
Last but not least beauty sleep is an important step in skin confidence because beauty sleep is very reparative. With more sleep there will be less of a chance to have dark circles under your eyes and sleep also helps clear up acne and hyper pigmentation.
XOXO,
Jackie
